Role

  • As the QA Manager, you will report to the COO in the UK and be oomi’s QA expert & champion. 
  • As an integral member of our Client Delivery team, you will work to instill a quality mindset in all team members and ensure all development end-products are fit for purpose and ready to deploy.
  • You will be hands-on, splitting your time between leading the QA team and doing QA work to ensure your skills stay sharp and relevant. 
  • You will focus on building an automated testing framework and ensuring everyone works toward automation, filling the gaps with manual testing as needed.
  • As a QA champion, you will also work to improve QA knowhow and abilities through the entire team and project lifecycle, pushing quality both up- (towards requirements gathering) and down-stream (towards NetOps). 
  • You will also push the limits of our QA knowledge by staying on top of industry trends

Responsibilities

  • Manage the resources of the team to build a top-flight automated test system while keeping ad-hoc testing practices efficient
  • Oversee the daily workflow and schedules of the team
  • Identify and manage implementation of test plans and cases based on leading-edge techniques and statistical evaluation
  • Have at the end of each release a sense of the state of quality of the release
  • Be clear and concise in both your written and verbal communication, be it writing a bug report, helping developers narrow down issues, or delivering the state of quality for a release to management
  • Work with Support to ensure that issues that end-users encountered are forever caught going forward in the automated test system
  • Continuously review and implement new, innovative test practices
  • Mentor the QA team
  • Devise and establish the company's quality procedures, standards, and specifications
  • Create the workflows to find, identify, and report on quality issues
  • Monitor all operations that affect quality
  • Report all malfunctions to production executives to ensure immediate action
  • Facilitate proactive solutions by collecting and analysing quality data

What to Expect 

  • You will focus on ensuring the quality of products delivered to our clients, working along-side development to clearly understand the requirements, and understanding how we can ensure we deliver on the requirements
  • You will bring your QA experience to build a world-class quality mindset, initially by focusing on automated testing and filling in the gaps with manual testing
  • You will play a key role in defining oomi’s QA vision and strategy, and continually review and update to follow industry best practices

Qualifications / Skills / Experience Requirements 

  • 5+ years’ technical experience with much of the time in a QA or similar role
  • In-depth experience in a QA leadership role for medium- to large-scale, cloud-based, consumer-facing products
  • Strong focus on automation, with experience of both API level and UI level testing
  • Strong knowledge of the software bug lifecycle
  • Experience working within Agile development teams
  • Proven ability to participate in requirements and design reviews
  • Able to write and execute test plans & test cases in a fast-paced development environment
  • Experience setting up, running, and analyzing load and stress testing runs
  • Willing to get hands dirty on a regular basis, lead the team by example
  • Have a knack to break products in a repeatable way
  • Ability to keep an eye on the customer’s needs
  • Understanding of cloud computing and cloud computing architectures
  • Understanding of database technology and able to write SQL scripts in support of QA work
  • Good programming skills in C/C++/C#/.NET,Obj-C or similar
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritise work accordingly
  • Self-motivated and pro-active with demonstrated creative and critical thinking capabilities
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills 
  • Possess leadership qualities to coach/mentor teams within testing team
  • Ability to work across different departments, including peers, senior management, development, and technical support on a range of subjects pertaining to software quality
  • Is current with latest trends in the Industry like DevOps and CI/CD release pipelines
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Exposure to statistical analysis and reporting in regard to QA work
  • Able to be pragmatic while maintaining high standards
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills
