Job purpose

The ETL developer is responsible for designing, developing and maintaining Data Quality rules/plans and the ETL necessary to score and populate the Data Quality Framework. This position must understand data quality methodology and understand how to translate Data Quality business requirements into logical and physical data models in order to build high-quality dashboards and scorecards and reports. 

ETL Developer Requirements

• Work with Business Analysts, Business Data Stewards, and the Data Architect to design and implement data quality business rules, and assist with analysis of data quality issues.


• Responsible for performing data profiling and development of customized data quality rules based on business requirements.


• Responsible for enhancing and maintaining the Data warehouse according to the defined architecture and design.


• Responsible for developing new ETL processes and maintaining/optimizing existing ones.


• Serve as a senior contributor to data and information-centric initiatives including data warehouse structure, ETL processes, and external data interfaces.


• Serve as a senior contributor to the overall design and implementation of the Data Quality infrastructure including evaluation and recommendation of software tools, the definition of hardware requirements, and system configuration.


• Serve as a senior contributor to the development of reporting models that define relationships between tables in the data warehouse and simplify the report development process.


• Interact with the other departments to understand and identify data needs and requirements and work with other members of the IT organization to deliver warehouse and reporting solutions to address those needs.


• Provide second level support for production Data Quality environments

For all the candidates

• 3+ years of experience working with designing and implementing Data Quality frameworks.


• 3+ years of experience developing ETL processes (tools or custom code).


• 3+ years working with and architecture databases, data warehouse technologies, including logical and physical design and developing and deploying ETL mappings.


• 3+ years developing Java code applications.


• Proficient developing ETL processes for multiple integration methods (REST/SOAP APIs, FTP, SFTP, CSV files, excel, text files, DB queries…)


• Experience developing Talend jobs is desirable. Apache Spark is a plus.


• Knowledge of developing Python, LINUX/UNIX shell scripts, configuring cron jobs or similar job scheduling tools is desirable.


• Proficient with relational database concepts, data modeling, and OLAP technologies. Comfortable building complex SQL queries.


• Solid experience in SQL queries is a must. Knowledge of MySQL and Redshift DBs preferred. NoSQL is a bonus.


• Experience of Amazon framework is desired (S3, EC2, Glacier, Redshift…)


• Proficient in unit, integration testing as well as quantitative/qualitative testing of data.


• Experience with development processes and production release management; application and database tuning and interdependencies on operating system configuration is highly desired.


• Experience with subscription e-commerce related data highly desired.
