Job Description:

Assignment:

The Database Assistant works under the direct supervision of the Area Coordinator and reporting to database manager in Islamabad,  is responsible for assisting in data management tasks for multiple on-going projects activities in ACTED’s Badin office.

Responsibilities

·         Database Assistant’s responsibilities include;

A.    General

·         Assist Program, AME in data entry and electronic process of data, reporting and developing databases according to project needs.

·         Responsible for hard data collection from program and AME and after entry sharing with relevant department with proper tagging.

·         Assist Database Manager in data collection, Data Cleansing, Data consolidation and sharing with Islamabad on monthly and adhoc basis.

·         Should be able to manage and supervise data entry process in the field to meet project deadlines.

·         Respond to any information requested by ACTED program, AME or Area Coordination.

·         Have good communication skills along with output orientated.

·         Can work under pressure, willing to work overtime when meeting hard deadlines.

·         Have a good understanding of database concepts, designing database queries in ms access and producing summary reports when required.

·         Command on database tools like MS ACCESS and MS Excel.

·         Should be able to modify/update database according to projects requirements.

·         Should follow the process and procedures as defined within the organization.

Should have demonstrated experience working with research data/data base management or equivalent academic experience.

Person Specifications

The Database Assistant will be appraised on his/her demonstration of the qualities and competencies listed below as well as from carrying out of the duties in section (1)

  • Flexibility and adaptability are essential, as well as the ability to plan, take initiative and organize work independently. In addition Impartiality, objectivity and confidentiality are imperative.
  • Understanding the nature of work carried out by different departments in the field is necessary for ensuring the relevance and usability of the data. Therefore a proactive and self-motivated attitude towards gaining a good understanding of ACTED programs.
  • Willingness to learn and capacity to innovate; the Database Assistant must be inventive and eager to improve his/her own skills, and be capable to adapt, shape and develop tools best suited for ACTED’s activities;
  • Good organizational and communication skills with international and national staff and rural communities.
  • Accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Demonstrate enthusiasm and a willingness and interest in learning new skills.
  • Adaptable to change.
  • Ability to work both independently and in a team.
  • Discretion in handling confidential issues and a high level of integrity.
