Job Description:

OVERVIEW OF POSITION

This position is part of the Action Against Hunger team of the EU-funded Programme for Improved Nutrition in Sindh (PINS), nutrition specific project covering 10 districts of Sindh as per the Accelerated Action Plan for Malnutrition and Stunting in Sindh. This is a consortium based project with three co-applicants (RSPN, PPHI and Concern Worldwide) and a range of other government partners.

This is a technical position acting as a bridge way between the PINS partners and the Government of Sindh’s Provincial Nutrition Cell ,positioned in Karachi. The role will comprise of coordination, representation and technical support as explained under the following objectives.

OBJECTIVES

Objective 1

To ensure smooth implementation of program activities, under the leader ship of Office of Provincial Nutrition Cell.  

Tasks & responsibilities

·         Support smooth implementation and strengthening of government responses through sharing of information with regards to PINS program needs as per implementation plan.

·         To facilitate in conduction of training sessions, seminars, workshops for awareness regarding malnutrition.

·         Arrange and lead trainings on specific topics including CMAM, BCC, HSS under the guidance of Program Manager PNC for pre-selected staff from departments associated with PINS and AAP.

·         To conduct technical reviews of AAP and PINS implementation in coordination with Government departments and document minutes of proceedings.

·         Under the guidance of Provincial Nutrition Cell,  further improve Health Information System through coordination with relevant technical teams.

·         Provide support in needs based technical support requested by Provincial Nutrition Cell with regards to PINS and AAP programs.

Objective 2

To represent Action Against Hunger and PINS nutrition specific at relevant forums

Tasks & responsibilities

·         To ensure that PINS and AAP programs are well represented on the forums of Provincial Nutrition Cell.

·         Timely outsource any support required from provincial or capital offices of Action Against Hunger

·         Share minutes and action points (with follow up) related to Provincial Nutrition Cell.

·         Prepare and present updates of the programme where required

Objective 3

To facilitate relations between Action Against Hunger/PINS consortium and Provincial Nutrition Cell Sindh

Tasks & responsibilities

·          Proactively lead on regular interactions and maintains a steady flow of information between the important internal and external stakeholders.

·          Develop and compile reporting formats as required by GoS

·          Facilitate signing and adherence to MOUs and partnership documentations between Action Against Hunger, PINS Partners and Government bodies.

·          Identify and resolve bottlenecks to ensure smooth implementation of program.

Objective 4 (Gender)

To ensure inclusion within relations and representation

·          To support mission level qualification for gender marker;

·          Ensure inclusion within programme planning, implementation and reporting;

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

Mandatory

·         Master's Degree in relevant field Minimum 04 years of overall experience and 02 years in relevant field in development sector OR Bachelor's degree in relevant field with minimum 06 years overall expereince with 04 years in relevant field in development sector

·         Good written and verbal communication in English;

·         Nutrition specific or public health qualification;

·         Experience working in nutrition specific or public health roles;

·         Strong interpersonal skills

·         Computer literate, knowledge of MS Word and Excel required

·         Experience working in Sindh

Preference

·         Sindhi language skills;

·         Experience within a large national or international organization;

·         Experience working in development projects

·         Experience working closely with Government of Sindh.
