Job Description:

The Food Safety and Quality Manager is responsible for ensuring that all food products meet safety standards, regulatory requirements, and company quality standards. This role involves developing, implementing, and managing food safety programs, ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, and leading initiatives to continuously improve food safety practices.

  • Key Responsibilities:

    • · Food Safety Program Management:

      • o Develop, implement, and maintain the company’s Food Safety Management System (FSMS), including HACCP, GMP, HALAL and Environmental Protection Department, Punjab other relevant safety programs.

      • Conduct regular audits of food safety practices to ensure compliance with internal standards and external regulations.

      • Lead the development and revision of food safety policies and procedures.

      • o Manage and coordinate the investigation and resolution of food safety incidents, including root cause analysis and corrective actions.

    • · Regulatory Compliance:

      • o Ensure the company is in full compliance with all applicable food safety regulations, including PFA and other local, state, and federal agencies.

      • Stay updated on changes in food safety regulations and ensure the company’s practices are updated accordingly.

      • Prepare for and manage external audits and inspections from regulatory bodies and certification organizations.

    • Training and Development:

      • Develop and deliver food safety training programs for staff at all levels to ensure understanding and compliance with food safety practices.

      • Mentor and guide the food safety team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement in food safety practices.

    • Continuous Improvement:

      • Lead initiatives to improve food safety processes, including the implementation of new technologies, tools, and best practices.

      • o Analyze food safety data and trends to identify opportunities for improvement.

      • o Collaborate with other departments, such as Quality Assurance, Operations, and R&D, to ensure food safety is integrated into all aspects of production.

    • · Documentation and Reporting:

      • o Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of all food safety activities, including audits, inspections, and training records.

      • o Prepare and present regular reports on food safety performance to senior management.

      • o Ensure proper documentation for traceability and recall procedures.

    • · Other Tasks assigned by Management

  • Authority

    • The Food Safety and Compliance Manager has the authority to develop and implement food safety programs, enforce corrective actions, and halt production if necessary to prevent safety risks. They conduct internal audits and inspections, mandate employee training, and ensure compliance with regulatory bodies. They manage communication with regulators, handle product recalls, and oversee documentation for audits and certifications. The manager also leads continuous improvement initiatives, collaborates with other departments, and advises senior management on food safety performance and compliance strategies.

  • Competency Criteria: Food Safety and Compliance Manager

    • · Education: Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Microbiology, Chemistry, or a related field. Master’s degree preferred.

    • · Experience:

      • o Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in food safety, quality assurance, or a related field within the food industry.

      • o Experience with regulatory inspections, third-party audits, and food safety certifications.

      • o Proven track record in developing and implementing food safety programs.

    • · Certifications:

      • o HACCP certification required.

      • o Certifications such as PCQI, SQF, BRC, or FSSC 22000 preferred.

    • · Skills:

      • o Strong knowledge of food safety regulations and standards.

      • o Excellent leadership and team management skills.

      • o Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

      • o Effective communication and training skills.

      • o Detail-oriented with a strong focus on accuracy and compliance.
